Belleville Quartet Bio
The Belleville Quartet is comprised of four luminaries of the Northeastern Ohio music community. Vocalist Sally Kandel has been active throughout the region, working with various groups including Dirty Shirley and Rio Neon; clarinetist Eric Seddon is well known as the pre-eminent adherent of Benny Goodman's early jazz/ swing repertoire and guitarists Brad Bolton and Topher Starzyk are celebrated purveyors of jazz and swing from the 1930s- 1960s. The four musicians share an appreciation for the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli who developed the “hot club” style that emerged from the Paris jazz scene of the 1930s. Accordingly, Belleville Quartet draws heavily on the music of that period --Fats Waller, Django Reinhardt, George Gershwin, etc.--while also presenting music by contemporary artists --the Beatles, specifically--in the “hot club” style.
